To enable iCloud Photos and potentially recover deleted photos, follow these steps:

  1. On your iPhone or iPad:
    • Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos
    • Turn on “Sync this [Device]” or “iCloud Photos”
  2. On your Mac:
    • Open the Photos app
    • Go to Photos > Settings (or Preferences in older versions)
    • Click on the iCloud tab
    • Check the box next to “iCloud Photos”
  3. On a Windows PC:
    • Download and install iCloud for Windows
    • Open the iCloud app and sign in with your Apple ID
    • Click Options next to Photos
    • Enable “iCloud Photos” and “Download new photos and videos to my PC”

Once enabled, iCloud Photos will sync your photo library across all your devices. To potentially recover deleted photos:

  1. Open the Photos app on any device
  2. Go to the “Recently Deleted” album
  3. Photos remain here for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted
  4. Select and restore any photos you want to keep

If the photos aren’t in the “Recently Deleted” album, they may be permanently deleted. In this case, you might need to:

  1. Check any older device backups (iTunes/Finder) for the photos
  2. Use third-party data recovery software as a last resort (though success isn’t guaranteed)

Remember, enabling iCloud Photos after photos were deleted may not recover them. It’s best to have iCloud Photos enabled continuously for optimal photo backup and syncing across devices.
